Julie Barron

President

For over 25 years Julie Barron has done extensive research and training in the health benefits and use of cannabis and entheogenic plants/fungi. Julie has devoted her practice to helping clients find healing and relief as they incorporate these alternative practices into wellness.

Over the past decade Julie helped to pioneer the Michigan psychedelic movement. She runs Blue Sage Health Consulting which offers cannabis/psychedelic therapies and professional training programs. Julie was a driving force in the creation of a strong and inclusive psychedelic community in Michigan, the Michigan Psychedelic Society. MPS is a community based non-profit that hosts meetings, events and speakers on a wide range of psychedelic topics. MPS became a hub of the Ann Arbor and Michigan psychedelic community.

Following MPS’s mission to work towards decriminalization, Julie helped found Decriminalize Nature Ann Arbor, the group that decriminalized entheogens in the city in Sept 2021. From there she helped build Decriminalize Nature MI, working to help Michigan cities decriminalize entheogens and a central group working towards drug policy reform statewide. Julie co-founded Entheofest, an annual Ann Arbor event celebrating sacred plants and mushrooms.  Julie was previosuly a board member of the national organization Decriminalize Nature working to decriminalize entheogens throughout the US.

Julie has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and Master’s Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology & Music Therapy from Naropa University. For many years in Colorado she practiced as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Registered Psychotherapist in private practice doing contract work with Children’s Hospital Denver, Boulder Valley School District, TEENS, Inc. Youth & Family Center, The Colorado Institute of Developmental Pediatrics, and others. Julie is currently preparing to become a State of Colorado Licsensed Psilocybin Facilitator.  In Michigan Julie previously worked with Michigan Progressive Health, helping them to create a their ketamine psychedelic psychotherapy program.
